I loved the book. Absolutely loved it. I understand it’s a movie now. How many of those of us who loved the book plan to watch the movie?
And to keep this in the spirit of the sub, I would love suggestions for something that left you with a similar feeling. I don’t think the Martian would be an option for me since I’ve seen the movie. I prefer to read before a watch.

I watched the movie the Friday it came out. I really liked the movie! There were some things it left out and some things that changed but overall, I liked it!
Read the book, loved it. Watched the movie and was pleasantly surprised. The movie is a very honest and straightforward adaptation of the book. The chance and cut some things but the major pieces are all there.
I’ve read the book six times, that’s how much I love it. I also watched the movie this last weekend. It was good.
Obviously the book is better and they left things out. You’re going to feel like the timeline is moving too fast when you watch it. But this is one of the best book to screen adaptations I’ve seen in a long time.
If you go into it with the understanding that the story has to be changed to be successful in a different medium, I think you’ll like it.
Gosling did a pretty good job and, though there were inaccuracies, I think they did a pretty good job with Rocky too.
Movie was great. Kept the humour, Rocky is close to what I imagined.
The Martian is still worth reading.
