    TW: infant death

My son would have turned 10 this Friday and I have developed this deep urge to go to him and read to him.

I hate going to his grave but I also love it because it's the only place I can be with him physically.

Maybe reading to him will be healing and maybe it will temper the immense grief and sadness I feel when I visit him.

I'd like to invite my other two kids if they want to (7 an 9 y/o) but I don't have them all the time so it will mostly be me.

I'd prefer something without a major character dying (or the dog IYKYK). But something where death is a small part that helps develop the story would be ok).

I sincerely thank you in advance 🖤

    1. “The Eyes and the Impossible,” by Dave Eggers. This has become my favorite (audio)/book of ALL TIME! The audiobook is narrated by the main character; a talking dog. He and his friends, seagulls, racoons, bison, goats, horses, birds of other kinds, squirrels and other land, sea and air animals and fo wl live in a huge parcel of park/forest suttounded by a body of water, face everyday challenges. One day the dog concocts an almost impossible plan. Will he succeed? I’m not telling.

People of all ages will love this. I understand why you spend time with him at his burial site. I think being with him gives you comfort, yes?

Is a chapter book okay? A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle has always been one of my favorites. It’s magical and introspective and science-fiction/fantasy.

I think that’s a really lovely idea, and I just wish I could remember what I was reading when I was 10. (I think it was a lot of classic stuff handed down by my parents, like the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew!)

I feel like that age is often when kids start reading comics and graphic novels – how about something classic, like Asterix the Gaul, or one of the Marvel Adventures Avengers series (not quite as adult in topic as the main comics series – all the team are friends and every story ends happily).
