I’m looking for a standalone or series with an unconventional or tragic ending something that will make me sad happy and mad all at the same time .
Ideally, tmaybe the MMC or FMC dies, a major side character dies, or the main couple doesn’t get what they want. Or everyone dies ……
I want a tragedy set within a fantasy/romance premise not a traditional happy ending, or at best a very bittersweet one.
For reference, the Jasad Heir Duology had an unconventional ending that really stuck with me. Alchemised and the Divine Rivals both had unconventional happy endings that still hit emotionally.
I’m looking for something that leans even more into that tragic or bittersweet space.
Am I in the right genre for this? I still want a fantasy romance premise but without a clean, happy ending.
