These days I've decided I want to improve my english skills (as I'm preparing myself for a medical entrance exam here in brazil and I'm interested in working abroad in these field), as a non english native speaker. I grew up surrounded by the language on internet but I can still feel I'm not capable of truly understanding grammar concepts or holding a conversation for too long without missing words or needed vocabulary for the context of the conversation. Since I want to start reading books again, I've decided to start reading books in english and thought about getting suggestions from people who read books constantly. It can be about many topics, like history, health, science, fiction.. I'm just looking for something I can read in english and naturally building a stronger relantionship with the language. Thanksssss <3

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is perfect for this – super simple prose but gets into some deep philosophical stuff about following your dreams. For history, check out Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States, it’s written pretty accessibly but covers some heavy topics about American social movements
As someone who built my vocabulary through gaming forums and Reddit, reading books where you’re actually interested in the subject matter makes the language learning way less painful
