hi guys! I am an avid reader but I'm really very picky. I am not a fan of fantasy or romance or historical fiction and mostly only read scifi, mysteries, thrillers, horror, etc.
but I've been trying to branch out. I've been reading a few romance books lately (they're fine) and I've tried fantasy several times (hate it every time)
but all the time I see people on here describe books that moved them that they thought were "beautiful". I want to read a book that moves me and sticks with me in ways that I'll remember forever. I want books that, when people say "what's the best book ever written?", that is what comes to mind.
some examples of books I've had this feeling about or something similar:
-Where the Mountain Meets the Moon (I read this as a kid and I've read it about 18 times and it's the book that got me into reading)
-The Eyes are the Best Part (the unreliable narrator was just incredible and the ending was great idk this one sticks with me)
-Pride and Prejudice (I know I know I said I hate romance but be honest has ANYONE ever read this and not loved it?)
-The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (I'm a huge Christie fan and this book was just incredible. I fear this will always be my favorite but I'm begging for someone to prove me wrong)
I've also read things like Dracula, Sherlock holmes books, crime and punishment, etc but nothing that has hit me as hard as I would like
clearly I am in desperate need of recommendations. I want something that grabs my heart and sticks with me forever so help me branch out
please
