I know loads of books about dysfunctional families ft. depression but I'm looking for the added bonus of a super weird job (or maybe hobby – just not a relationship) that the characters end up liking and it brings joy into their day to day life.

Take a look at The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz. A family of private investigators.
This is technically a children’s book, but it does work well for adults.
