Books with similar thriller and tension to the new Netflix show “something very bad is going to happen”

Hello first time posting!

I've been watching the new show on Netflix called "Something very bad is going to happen" (not finished yet so please no spoilers) but I love the tension, how most of the horror is built on paranoia, and the gothic atmosphere.

I'm mostly a fantasy girlie (just finishing Robin Hobb's farseer trilogy at the moment) so I have no idea where to start with thriller/horror books that would have a similar vibe. I've done some searches and have been recommended the bog wife, coffin moon and the buffalo hunter's hunter, but was wondering if anyone else had suggestions?
