I need a book about someone who is significantly intelligent experiencing feelings of isolation and maybe even anger. It could be to insanity, or hatred for everyone around them. Something that romanticizes the concept, almost.
Fiction is preferred but non-fiction can do as well, I only need to capture that emotional tension.

The only thing that comes close to things I’ve read is “flowers for Algernon” by Daniel Keyes.
