Hi all! On a comp hunt for a novel I'm writing and also looking to expand my reading list with recent releases. I'm looking for books released after 2024, either fantasy or sci fi (ideally fantasy since my novel is fantasy), that explores nonhuman or animal intelligence seriously through an expert eye, bonus if it explores themes of exploitation, welfare and ethics!
And also, anything where animal intelligence is treated as animal intelligence!! I love Jack London's works precisely because he doesn't treat animals as lesser humans and they are allowed to be distinctly nonhuman. Would love to expand my TBR with more of those in fantasy!
I'm not in the US so don't have access to the vast majority of the US book market and have to rely on internet searches, which, as you can expect, isn't too helpful. Your help would be highly appreciated!
Thanks for your help in advance!
