Hey everyone. I need some help finding a book for my friends birthday
This is a throwaway account. I also hope this is the right subreddit, if not please redirect me.
Her (18F) birthday is coming up, and I wanted to gift her some books. But I am not a reader myself, so I'm kind of stuck.
She really adores "the picture of dorian gray" by Oscar Wilde; "Frankenstein" by Mary shelley ; "The king in yellow" by Robert Chambers; "the parfum" by Patrick Süskind and "the fall" by Albert Camus.
I'm sure she likes the more philosophical part of these books, but also enjoys mysteries like "And then there was one" by Agathe Christie. She loves a good ending,
I thought of buying "Crime and Punishment" by Fyodor Dostoevsky or/and "The Stranger" by Alber Camus. But my overthinking is getting the best of me.
Oh! she did buy "Metamorphosis" by Franz kafka; but disliked the simplicity of english translation.
Edit: She can both speak English and French; but prefers reading in English as she feels she has a better grasp at more philosophical vocabulary.
