Im trying to branch out in reading and am interested to know if anyone knows of any books similar to atomospheric, walking simulator, story rich video games. Examples: Firewatch, What Remains of Edith Finch, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture.
I've found that I like eerie vibes, maybe darker content. Not necessarily horror/scary(am open to it) but would like more focus on descriptions on surroundings, inner monologues. I wouldn't describe this book series as that but I love the Southern Reach series, the first book Annihilation I think had cool and eerie scenic descriptions, and inner monologues. Other books I enjoyed in the past that may have given me close feelings to it were The Road by Cormac McCarthy and Im Thinking of Ending Things by Iain Reid.
So yeah, oddly specific, but anything like that, maybe moreso outside, extraterrestrial, cult, eerie, anything of that nature. Im not worried about a heavy plot, would prefer barely any action. Is that a thing anyone knows of? or any recommendations close? 🫠😅

The Road by Cormac McCarthy
The Rings of Saturn by Sebald. A guy’s fictionalized version of himself walks the countryside of England and reports on the connections he’s making. Lots of info, some of it made up.
