I find the trope of using fictional superpowered groups as stand-ins for real-life victims of bigotry annoying for two reason: First of all, real-life minority groups don't have scary superpowers that give people an actual reason to be wary of them. And secondly… you have superpowers! Don't just turn the other cheek!
I really like that Futurama episode where they time-travel back to the 1950's, and eventually get sick of having to tiptoe around in the name of not upsetting the timeline, and just make use of the fact that they have an armed spaceship and no one else does, and they just fly around blasting.
Are there fantasy/sci-fi/whatever books where the lynch mob wannabees just get wrecked?

Alex Verus series and Dresden files migh fit. They are the underdogs with some power, but take down much more powerful villains. Plus especially the Audio books are great. The first Dresden audiobook has a lot of sighing and breathing, but after that they get better and better.
Children of Blood and Bone (#1, Legacy of Orisha) by Tomi Adeyemi is about a fantasy version of Africa where magic users are considered a lower caste and are hunted almost to extinction by non-magic havers. But a magic user decides it’s dumb to go along with this system and starts fighting back.
