Hey all!!
As the title says, I’m looking for a weird, grotesque book that will genuinely unsettle me.
I recently completed ‘A Girl is a Half Formed Thing’ by Eimear McBride, and it has to be one of my favourite books i’ve read recently (if not all time).
I also finished ‘In the Miso Soup’ by Ryū Murakami today, which unsettled me at some parts but not wholly – I still enjoyed it very much!
I (strangely enough, lol) enjoy books that unsettle me, with grotesque, taboo, or borderline ‘depraved’ themes (e.g. cannibalism), so I’m looking for books that have these themes in them.
Some books I currently have on my TBR list are:
– Grotesque by Natsuo Kirino
– Girls Against God by Jenny Hval
– A Certain Hunger by Chelsea G. Summers
Incase anyone can recommend these and books similar, I’d be very thankful.
Similarly, I’m also a fan of books that make me SAD. Like, seriously sad – so if there are any books that could overlap the two themes send them my way!
Thank you all for any suggestions you can make!! 🙂
