I haven't read an book that wasn't a storybook for my littles for a year now, even longer then that, since I didn't enjoy the book and just power my way though it. I prefer to not read smut. I just need something.
1. The Jasmine throne by Tasha Suri
2. The red palace by June Hur
2. I’ll stop the world by Lauren Thoman
3. Give me a sign by Anna Sortino
4. Foul lady fortune by Chloe Gong
5. Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe
6. Long way down: the graphic novel by Jason Reynolds
6. The benevolent society of ill-mannered ladies by Alison Goodman

One tip, start by re-reading something you remember enjoying from years ago. Even if it is meant for young adults. (Heck, I am 40 and still read mostly YA…). The nostalgia and familiarity can help you get back into the rhythm of reading and remind you why you enjoyed it in the past.
That being said, here are some of my favorite lighter./fun reads:
* A Dirty Job, by Christopher Moore
* The Martian, by Andy Weir
* Project Hail Mary, by Andy Weir
* My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry, by Fredrik Backman
* The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper, by Phaedra Patrick
* Just Stab Me Now, by Jill Bearup
* Confessions of a Shopaholic, by Sophie Kinsella
* Where’d You Go Bernadette, by Maria Semple

I second the suggestion of rereading something you’ve read and really liked in the past. I’m not sure what type of books you might be interested in so I’ll just give you what I read several years back when I was coming out of a really long reading slump:
A River Enchanted and A Fire Endless by Rebecca Ross. It’s a duology that is (light) fantasy, has an intriguing mystery, a great landscape, and characters that I found to be likeable and was invested in.

I recommend Harry Potter series for fantasy and The Hunger Games series for Dystopian
And if you are interested in romance I recommend Picking Daisies on Sundays by Liana Cincotti
