I am in need of suggestions please.
I work at an Assisted Living/Memory Care home for elderly residents. We had a new resident move in that is an emergency move in. She came from a home for people with mental illness. Apparently, she was living there in a closet under the stairs, so our facility took her in because there was nowhere else she could go locally. She is the sweetest lady! She is new and trying to get comfortable with everyone and her surroundings. She loves to read. When she lived at the other place the library and a bookstore were next door. We have a small library at our facility and every time I see her, she has a book in her hands.
Today I sat with her and asked her what kind of books she likes to read. Her answer was "Anything about animals. I really like animals. When I was little, I read Lassie. I really like cats too. So, I like books about animals. But I don't like educational books. I wasn't very good and school, so I don't like books that try to teach me things. I didn't like school."
She is reading adult fiction, and I am trying to think of a special book she might enjoy that she may not have ever read before. I know the classics. No doubt she has read all of those. I am trying to think of something different that isn't sad. Maybe kind of humorous and will bring a smile to her heart?
