Looking for some books about extraterrestrial encounters. After watching Project Hail Mary I realized I haven’t really read any book about the subject.
Main interest would be the interactions between humans and the aliens.
Thank you in advance : )

First contact genre:
– **The Mote in God’s Eye** by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle
– **The Sparrow** by Mary Doria Russell
– **Ship of Fools** by Richard Paul Russo
– **The Saturn Run** by John Sandford and Ctein.
– **Eifelheim** by Michael Flynn
It’s a really wide ranging genre that varies greatly in quality.
The Mote in God’s Eye by Niven is a little more like PHM in that the aliens are essentially just humans in costumes but with cultural differences.
Solaris by Lem is the far opposite, exploring a species that is so completely alien we’re not even sure how to comprehend.
The Invincible by Lem is similar.
A Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge has one of my favorite alien explorations, done in a way that is very novel.
Children of Time by Tchaikovsky explores the topic through evolved versions of other terrestrial species, and is quite good.
Communion by Whitley Strieber
To Be Taught, If Fortunate by Becky Chambers.
*In the future, instead of terraforming planets to sustain human life, explorers of the galaxy transform themselves. At the turn of the twenty-second century, scientists make a breakthrough in human spaceflight. Through a revolutionary method known as somaforming, astronauts can survive in hostile environments off Earth using synthetic biological supplementations. With the fragile body no longer a limiting factor, human beings are at last able to explore exoplanets long suspected to harbour life.*
