Hey, so im looking to get back into reading. Instead of watching a movie or show before bed I wanna try to read a bit. I’m in my early 20s, and while Ive read the usual school classics (like Kite Runner or Handmaid’s Tale back then), I haven’t really been a big reader since. I love movies, anime, and Tv shows but if ive seen the movie or tv show I dont want to read the book after cause I feel like I already know whats happened or I dont wanna know the future as it could be a spoiler lol. For example, Ive seen GOT so i dont think i could ever read the book after watching it… idk if that makes sense lol.

Im just looking for suggestions. I like fantasy, sci-fi (project hail mary would have been a great read if i didnt watch the movie last week lol), mystery, etc.

Now looking at it I would have loved to have read the books before watching:

    – Maze runner

    – Dune

    – Game of Thrones

    – Hunger Games

    – The Martian

    – Harry Potter

Let me know where to start or any suggestions!

P.S. Id rather not read manga

    1. The Illuminae Files trilogy by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff, a very engaging space sci-fi trilogy with mixed media elements.

    2. You’d probably enjoy Red Rising by Pierce Brown, a fast-paced, twisty, dystopian sci-fi/fantasy revenge story, that turns into quite an epic series.

Audiobooks are super good these days as well, and I’d highly recommend checking out the Cradle series by Will Wight, starting with Unsouled. Really great anime/shonen vibes imo, in a fun, fast-paced, ‘progression fantasy’ series. Great characters, creative magic, adventure, and an epic story told over the course of 13 fast books. Narrated by Travis Baldree.
