I’ve been reading a lot of fantasy books, including the Mistborn books with Wax and Wayne. Thinking of taking a break from fantasy, especially the trope of the main character being The One. I’m thinking a western book could be fun.
Does anyone have any suggestions for Westerns for someone transitioning from Fantasy?

*The Country Under Heaven* by Frederic S. Durbin is a western with Lovecraftian elements. It’s more interconnected short stories than it is a novel though.
I could suggest books where there’s not a “the one” trope.
Lonesome Dove is epic. Landscape plays a large part similar to world building.
Maybe “Lone Women” (Victor Lavalle)?
The spiritual elements of some Native-written novels might be up your alley as well, e.g. “Ceremony” (Silko) or “House Made of Dawn” (Momaday)
