Hi, my niece (9, 4th grade) is looking for some new books to try and I'm a bit out of my depth. Her reading level is getting so Magic Tree House is a too easy for her. I think I exclusively read Animorphs around her age but she's not interested. She likes everything Disney, particularly the Descendants series, mermaids, unicorns, and K Pop Demon Hunters. I'm still a fan of some middle grade books, but most of what I have is still a bit beyond her (Lockwood and Co, Percy Jackson, Ranger's Apprentice) and not to mention kind of boy coded in ways that I worry will make her reticent to give them a try.
The only books I can really think to suggest are the Warrior Cats series, but I doubt that'll last the whole summer for her. What are some books and authors you would recommend we check out?

Oh my 10 yo is obsessed with Warrior Cats there are so many books it could seriously last her years. Neverland Girls is a Disney series about girls who turn fairy size and bust Tinkerbell and dang. Also Dragon Girls seems right up her alley- it’s a series about girls who go to a mystical world as dragons to solve problems.
Try the Dork Diaries series – it’s perfect for that age and has similar vibes to what she already likes. Also Wings of Fire might work even though it’s dragons instead of unicorns, the main characters are mostly female and it’s got that fantasy adventure feel without being too heavy
Nevermoor series by Jessica Townsend
