I want a fantasy romance or romantasy where the MC thwarts the fated mates trope
I’m so over fated mates. I want a book where the main character has a mating bond they don’t want and actively rejects it, and instead chooses a life with the person they love – or even the single life!
Not sure thats possible in a genre that is so cookie-cutter you may be asking for something which does not exist. but this is closer …

The only think I can think of that’s at least close is the YA series Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr.

I’m actually fucking around with exactly this premise in a piece I’m working on, but I am not a published author, and it will probably never see the light of day, haha. Gonna watch this thread, though, because I’m interested too (obviously, or I wouldn’t be taking a stab at writing it).
