Sounds like you need a change of pace
I suggest a book that’s off the beaten path.
      It’s called “CHRISTMAS KATS”
It’s NOT a stupid Christmas story.
In fact Christmas is not even really part of the story.
And the cats are “real” animals. They don’t talk, etc. But they steal the show.

It’s a fast, short, smart Adult read that surprises you with “wasn’t expecting the book to be like that” vibe.

It’s new and a bit hard to find in Google search. So best to go right to Barns & Noble or Apple books sites, etc. Adding the author’s name Mark DePonte, sometimes helps.

It’s about a remorseful Santa revealing 3 stories about cats that changed his life during his long existence.

The first story (sort of an Oceans 11 heist caper) deals with a rescue of an old cat from an animal shelter, for one last Christmas at home. It will definitely make you cry (in a good way) so have tissues ready.
Even guys you wouldn’t expect, said they found themselves on an emotional rollercoaster and balled their eyes out with “sad, then happy” tears.

The second story is sort of a looney tunes adventure (think roadrunner v coyote) where a mischievous kitten stows away in Santa’s bag during his Christmas run and almost ruins Christmas for the world.

Then out of the blue it turns into a dark fantasy “ticking clock” mystery/thriller where Mrs Claus is kidnapped. Well lets just say you won’t be able to put down until you read the very last page!

Totally unexpected and nothing else like it.
The quote “On Our Lives” will stick with you long after you are done.

I hear rumors that the movie script is making the rounds, so expect a movie soon.
