French books from the late 1800s or early 1900s (or set during those years) that can give me an idea of how people back then talked

I am writing a story set in France during 1872, but I feel my dialogue is too British-sounding. Idk how to explain it; too witty perhaps? Too proper? Maybe it won't be that different, but I wanna make sure.
