Looking for new adult/adult Books like the naturals with older characters aka criminal minds in book form

Note: Flair is romance, but I'm more so looking for suspense romance, possibly with some very light darkish romance elements (dark circumstances, not dark relationship). Suspense and romance aspects should be pretty much equally present, a tad bit more mystery is fine. I am well aware that this is asking for a lot, so not every single request has to be fulfilled.

My most important requests are (I'd much appreciate it if you'd read the written out version down below 🙂 ):

• Older characters! Around mid twenties and up (age gap is fine)
• (Much preferably both, but) at least one working for some sort of crime solving institution, but …
• no criminal fmc/mmc!
• No complete separation of suspense and romance
• a lot of tension between fmc and mmc
• the "just to clarify" part: What I do not want the mmc to be like
  • Not the "breath the same air as her and you die" type; why are we unnecessarily killing people?
  • protective, mysterious, troubled type
  • No obsessive or controlling behavior; fmc can hold her own and he knows it
  • No "only nice to fmc", but also not exactly open with others; respectfully reserved
  • No physically, mentally abusive mmc!
  • "troubled green flag who has a hard time showing his green flag tendencies" sums it up quite well

I really liked the mystery solving, working for an institution meant to solve crimes, found family and the romance subplot. Id love for the romance (and the characters) to be more mature and a bit more relevant. Not necessarily the main plot but equally important. It should be romance between colleagues and the romance should develop there as well. I don’t want the romance and mystery/crime solving to be separate but rather intertwined.

Honestly I think I’m looking for a criminal minds ff with post prison Reid as the mmc.

Some smut is preferred but not a must. What is a must is a whole lot of tension between the fmc and mmc. I’d prefer for the mmc to be a bit, for a lack of a better word, dominant (think the mysterious, protective troubled type with a hard shell who’s actually quite the softy)

Just to clarify: I do not want an mmc that goes around and kills everyone who ‚dares to touch her‘. I mostly just find that kind of weird/cringey. Neither should he be obsessive or controlling (except in the sheets). The fmc can hold her own and he knows it. Also, while I would want him to be reserved with others, he shouldn't be nice to only the fmc. I do not like unnecessarily mean mmcs. Absolutely no physically or mentally abusive mmc (think non con/dub con or unnecessary anger he takes out on her etc.). In short: I don’t want a creepy asshole mmc. Just a troubled green flag who has a hard time showing his green flag tendencies. Also, pls no pick me vibes from the fmc.

The (also troubled) fmc shouldn't be exactly a ray of sunshine either, but not as closed off as the mmc. She protects her past and might get snappy or push people away once they're close to figuring out her troubled past, but she's still capable of building genuine friendships and such.
