Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some book recommendations (fiction or memoirs) to help me process a recent friendship breakup with a group I met online.
To be honest, the fallout was largely due to my own lack of communication. I was dealing with some heavy stuff in real life, specifically my mom’s declining health and I was completely overwhelmed with school and work. I "dropped the ball" on keeping in touch and managing expectations, and the group eventually decided they were done with me.
Even before the breakup, I often felt like the "black sheep" or like I didn't quite fit in with their dynamic, which makes the silence now feel even more complicated. I’m struggling with a lot of guilt and the feeling of being the "villain" in their story, even though I’ve tried to take accountability and make things right.
I’m looking for books that explore:
Friendship breakups that aren't one-sided (where the protagonist actually made mistakes).
Healing from the "black sheep" feeling or the realization that a group wasn't the right "fit" for you.
Self-forgiveness when life gets too heavy and you fail the people around you.
Moving on from drama and reconnecting with yourself.
I’m open to any genre, though I tend to lean toward contemporary fiction or memoirs. I just want to read something that makes me feel less alone in being a "flawed" person who is trying to do better.

I’m really sorry you went through that, it sounds like you were carrying a lot at once and trying your best with limited energy. For something that helps process emotions without feeling heavy, I’d recommend Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb or Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed.
