Hi all,
I’m looking for book recommendations about grief, especially more specific kinds of loss. One of my friends was killed by her partner last year, and I’ve found that a lot of general grief books don’t fully resonate with that experience.
I’ve been drawn to non-fiction grief books lately, especially quote collections with various people’s experiences that I can pick up and read in small pieces, but I’m open to other suggestions too.
If anyone knows of books that touch on grief after homicide, I’d really appreciate it. My preference is definitely non-fiction, but I’m also open to fiction, particularly stories involving domestic or intimate partner violence as I think that may feel a little more relatable to me than other types of fictional loss.
Thanks so much!

I’m so sorry for your loss.
I’d recommend Liliana’s Invincible Summer A Sister’s Search for Justice by Cristina Rivera Garza. It’s the author’s journey through her own grief at the loss of her sister to domestic violence and to search for justice for her. It won the 2024 Pulitzer for Memoir/Autobiography.
