Looking for books which will make me emotional, but not too slow paced. I’d like thought provoking topics, can be any subject as I’m trying to branch out and read all sorts. The last five books I read were
A Thousand Splendid suns, Project Hail Mary, Isola, Saving Noah and Substitute

flowers for algernon will wreck you in the best way possible, goes from hopeful to absolutely devastating
I’ve never cried as hard while reading as I did multiple times throughout the incredible Realm of the Elderlings series by Robin Hobb. It’s got so many painful, heartwrenching moments, but I also loved some of the characters more deeply than any other fictional characters ever. They got fully under my skin.
if you liked a thousand splendid suns you’ll probably want stuff that hits hard but doesn’t drag forever
the nightingale is a good one for that. it moves and still lands pretty heavy by the end
song of achilles too… didn’t expect that one to hit like it did
a man called ove is different, lighter at first but it still gets you
if you want something heavier, a little life will do it but it’s not exactly a casual read
for me it’s usually the books where you get pulled into the characters first and then it kind of flips on you
