Looking for books with queer characters, but aren't like rom-com, or some heated rivalry-esque book. I just want a book with a preferably bisexual (I want some representation guys) or just queer main character, and it can be any genre.

Becky Chambers’ books are full of queer characters and are absolutely fantastic. (I believe her novella To Be Taught If Fortunate has a specifically bi character)
The Last Place You Look by Kristin Lepionka is the first book in the Roxane Weary series, main character is a bisexual private detective.
Fundamentally by Nussaibah Younis also has a bisexual main character and it’s very funny as well! About an academic who, after being crushed by a recent breakup, decides to go to Iraq to try to put in practice her theories about how to rehabilitate ISIS brides.
The Last Sun by KD Edwards – urban fantasy, mystery, cool fight scenes, gay male lead (CW for sexual violence in back story)
Swordspoint by Ellen Kushner – classic fantasy about the sociopolitical happenings of an unnamed city. Two male MCs in an ensemble cast who seem to be bi.
You can’t spell treason without tea by Rebecca Thorne – cozy fantasy, sapphic couple revive small town plus dragons
All of us murders by KJ Charles – bit of a cheat here because Charles is a romance writer, but this volume is a stand alone, historical fiction take on a haunted house. Gay male lead.
Silver Nitrate by Sylvia Moreno-Garcia
A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske, A Power Unbound by Freya Marske.
Lie With Me by Philippe Besson.
Swimming In The Dark by Tomasz Jedrowski.
Young Mungo by Douglas Stuart.
days without end – sebastian barry
such a lyrically beautiful journey, my all time favorite book
Koko takes a holiday.
Winter Dark by Alex Callister
The Everlasting by Alix E Harrow
Godkiller by Hannah Kent
They Both Die at the End
Volatile Memory by Seth Haddon – MC is a bisexual trans woman
Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao – MC is polyamorous and arguably genderqueer
The Stardust Grail by Yume Kitasei – basically the whole cast is some flavor of queer
The Left Hand of Darkness imagines an offshoot of humanity with a unique gender/sexuality setup: during infertile periods, everyone has no gender, and during fertile periods, they can go either male or female, and over a lifetime you can both father and mother children. People with a preference towards only one gender are considered perverts and the slur for them is “halfdeads.” A human guy from Earth makes first contact, develops a deep and complex relationship with one particular person, and has to confront his own biases about sex and gender and the possibility of loving someone who is at the same time neither male nor female and both male and female.
The Pentecost and Parker series is fun noir.
The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo and atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid, our wives under the sea
The guild of the Cowre catchers.
