I’ll be starting a new phase of my life in a few months as I step into the corporate world, and I want to make sure I’m mentally prepared for it.

I’m especially looking for book recommendations that can help with understanding people, navigating workplace dynamics, communication, and overall growth in a professional setting and talks about human psychology.

One book I already have in mind is The 48 Laws of Power I’ve heard mixed opinions about it. Some say it’s a must-read for understanding real-world power dynamics, while others feel it’s too manipulative. Would you recommend it for someone just starting out, or suggest something better?

Would really appreciate any recommendations that had a real impact on you in your early career. Thanks!

I read The 48 Laws of Power few years back when I started in IT support – it’s interesting but can make you a bit paranoid about everyone’s motives. For workplace stuff, “How to Win Friends and Influence People” is much better starting point, less cynical and more practical for daily interactions. Also check “Never Eat Alone” by Keith Ferrazzi, it helped me understand networking without feeling like I’m manipulating people all the time.
