    Hey everyone,

I recently started getting into reading (late to the party, I know 😅), and I’m really enjoying it so far.

I'm realizing I’m all about thrillers and murder mysteries. You know, the kind of books that make you stay up way too late because you have to know what happens next.

Any recommendations? Popular ones, hidden gems, beginner-friendly stuff—anything that’ll keep me hooked.

    Thanks in advance, y’all! 🙌

    1. Tana French’s Dublin Murder Squad series. The Likeness is my favorite, but they’re all good.

    2. The crime/ police novels by PD James (female), British. MC Adam Dalgliesh is a Commander in the Met and a published poet. These books are literate, complex, and
make superb use of characterization and settings.
      Among the very best.

    3. I’m like you. I’m behind the curve but playing catch-up in this genre. Here are some recent favorites:

Then She Was Gone and None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell
First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston
      Find Me by Romily Bernard
      Stolen by Lucy Christopher
      Junior Missing by Khristina Chess
      Still Missing by Chevy Stevens
Local Woman Missing by Mary Kubica
The God of The Woods by Liz Moore
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

I like everything I’ve read by Stacy Willingham and Kate Alice Marshall. Also, if you’re open to historical mysteries, I’ve binge-read Sujata Massey’s Perveen Mistry series (set in 1920s India) this week and really enjoyed them!

    5. Just finished the audiobook of The Murder at World’s End by Ross Montgomery (2026). Funniest book I’ve read in a while, while also being a good mystery.

Kerry Greenwood has both the Phryne Fisher and the Corrina Chapman books. Both are really good.
