Hello, please suggest a book thats just horridly depressing and sad and wth. not fun just will make me hate my life.
please no fantasy or scifi.
if it had like a romantic theme that would be cool but isint necessary (but if it does it has to fail in one way or another because again i dont want happyness)
the only happyness i will accept is if the main character is a pos and something horribe happens to him

If you’re looking for something that really sticks with you in a heavy way, “A Little Life” by Hanya Yanagihara is probably one of the most emotionally draining books out there. It just keeps getting more intense as it goes. Also “The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini has that kind of lingering sadness that stays with you even after you finish.
Both aren’t fantasy or sci-fi and lean more into real, painful experiences.
Cold Crematorium by József Debreczeni
Flowers for Algernon made me cry
Grief is the thing with feathers by Max Porter
