I’m looking for genuinely unsettling, creepy books, especially ones with paranormal or horror murder mystery esque vibes. I’ve loved And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, The Haunting of Hill House (and its TV adaptation), and Ninth House.
I’m not really into Stephen King’s writing style- especially how he tends to portray women. So I’d prefer recommendations from authors who feel less problematic in that sense. Bonus points if the lead is a woman and the story has good representation of queer and south asian ppl.
