I’ve been getting more into psychological thrillers where the tension isn’t about action, but about the feeling that something is quietly shaping everything behind the scenes.
Stories where nothing is obviously wrong — but decisions, behaviour, even reality itself feel slightly… guided.
Think Black Mirror, but in book form. Subtle, unsettling, and idea-driven.
I’m especially interested in anything involving:
- invisible systems
- algorithmic influence
- manipulation that doesn’t feel like manipulation
- slow-burn psychological tension
