Is Project Hail Mary like Red Rising

I just finished reading Project Hail Mary and was really not gripped by it. The narrative to me was quite straight forward and bland. While there were definitely some great aspects such as rocky and some good sequences. I’m afraid red rising will focus too much on the sci Fi rather than the actual story. I was looking for red rising but any fantasy esc character novels will definitely be my best interest. Thanks.
