Hello! I'm looking for a book about long landscapes, areas, distances, architectures. Kinda like McCarthy's "The Road" or the atmosphere of the manga "BLAME!" or "Piranesi"? A space so massive, so overwhelming. Sometimes natural, sometimes liminal, sometimes artificial.

Or maybe a journey to "somewhere" that can take a long time, almost melancholic, meeting new people, going to new places, all to reach this "other place." Not sure if I'm making any sense, but it's the vibe of "you must go here in order to be saved or discover" and you risk everything, but you can also gain everything. Places that feel like that; books that have places like that!

Any genres! even spacetime like cryogenic, or fantasy, etc. etc.

    Thank you!

been reading some ursula k le guin lately and “the dispossessed” has this feeling you’re talking about – the main character travels between two worlds and there’s this sense of vast emptiness between them, plus the desert scenes feel really overwhelming in scale

also maybe check out “roadside picnic” by strugatsky brothers, it’s about these zones where alien visitors left behind weird artifacts and the landscapes feel super liminal and dangerous. the stalkers who go in there risk everything but could find something that changes their life completely
