Hi book lovers! I recently rewatched the excellent Bob Dylan biopic and became really interested in the times. Can anyone recommend a history of the iconic cultural movers of the era as well as the socio-political issues of the time?

Greil Marcus has written a lot of book about music history in the 60s and in american culture in general.
A Hard Rain by Frye Gaillard goes into the sixties as a whole
CHAOS by Tom O’Neill goes into the Manson murders and a lot of shady stuff around the times
The first couple chapters of Season of the Witch by David Talbot talk about San Francisco in the late 60s
the electric kool aid acid test, by tom wolfe, will put you on the bus.
For socio-political issues – Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas and Hells Angels. Both by Hunter S. Thompson
