I want to get a book for my friend's birthday, preferably a classic bc booktores where i live dont offer many options other than mainstream books. i cant put this nicely, she likes characters that are kinda insane, she likes to figure out why they are the way they are. some of those characters she enjoyed to pick apart are thomas ripley (talented mr ripley), and kemal (museum of innocence). she is also a big fan of pride and prejudice for girlhood reasons. if none of these are helpful, she also enjoys reading books that are practically the self inserts of writers (idk if i explained it well, retelling their life like its a character's) to know what life events shaped their mind
