What are your favourite books that are available in the Public Domain?
I have been reading through the some of the more popular titles over the past couple years and it has really grown my love of classic literature. What have you read that may not be as well know as the Dickens, Austen, etc. classics but was a great read?

A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
Some of my favorites (in order of increasing obscurity) are
Middlemarch by George Elliot
Tristram Shandy by Lawrence Sterne
Inclinations by Ronald Firbank
Also, The Public Domain Review does a great job curating interesting material from the public domain an publishing commentary on it (they don’t have too much to say about novels though).
Mark Twain is super well known, but Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc and The Gilded Age seem a bit less known, and those are my two favorites of his.
Dashiell Hammett’s detective noir ***The Maltese Falcon*** which recently came into the public domain.
I enjoyed the original Zorro story, *The Curse of Capistrano*
I’ve been meaning to read the jungle by upton Sinclair for the longest time.
