As the title suggest, I’m trying to get back into reading. My family never really encouraged reading growing up so I haven’t really read many novels in my life. When I was younger my parents didn’t wanna buy novels if I asked. I did borrow from a friend and read some of the Percy Jackson and Kane chronicles as a kid and remember enjoying them. But those were the only books I actually read for leisure growing up.

I’m now in my mid twenties and randomly saw this book called the Will of many by James Islington. I read that book completely in less than a month. First time ever. After that I tried the red rising book but idk I couldn’t get myself to read it like I did with the will of many. The second book in the will of many series , the strength of the few came out and I finished that book in a month again. Im not sure how to express exactly what I like about the will of many series that captured me so deeply or why I couldn’t make myself get into red rising.

If anybody has any recommendations for a new reader that could help me build up my reading stamina and discipline I would greatly appreciate it . I eventually want to reach to a point that I will be able to read a book a month on a consistent basis and finish a book that I start even if it wasnt super engaged.

I think starting with something that has a power/ magic system that isn’t too complex but is used is interesting ways may be helpful. I also think a plot that rewards frequently might help me build my stamina since it could help me stay engaged longer.

Thank you to anybody who suggests, I appreciate greatly.
