I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump lately and I’m looking for something that will actually keep me up past my bedtime.
I really love stories with deep, complex characters and a plot that keeps me guessing, whether that's a psychological thriller, a beautifully written historical fiction, or even a sci-fi that feels grounded in reality. I’m basically looking for anything that feels "atmospheric" and immersive.

Dark matter is exactly that
Ive got three very different, but very interesting recommendations.
Dungeon crawler Carl – by Matt Dinniman (audible)
Soul Hunter – by Aaron Dembski-Bowden (Warhammer 40k – perfect intro book to that Lore)
Single book (sci fi)
Reclusion – Blake Crouch
Trust me; they’re all very good.
Lonesome Dove by McMurtry
East of Eden by Steinbeck
Alaska by Michener
The Journeyer by Jennings
Thistlefoot-gennarose nethercott
My most recent “hard to put down” books:
– “Trust” by Hernan Diaz (historical fiction)
-“The Names” by Florence Kemp (stayed up til 3 am reading this one the night I started it lol) (fiction)
– “Crossing” by Pajtim Statovci (historical fiction)
– “Vita Nostra” by Marina and Sergey Dyachenko (fantasy/sci-fi)
Trust took forever to get into and when I finally did, the book changed to all new characters. I quit it.
The Gone World
There Is No Antimemetics Division
Red Dragon
Silence of The Lambs
Children of Time
Fingersmith
The Alienist
I have just started I who have never known men. Struggling to put it down!
Hard -boiled Wonderland and the End of the World … magical realism
Anxious People .. great characters and warm humor, terrific surprise ending
Cloud Cuckoo Land …
Takes a bit to get into, but then wow!
Elsewhere – Dean Koontz … really sweet engaging characters. Great story too. I couldn’t put it down.
I just finished “Water in the Desert, Fire in the Night” by Gethan Dick. I was barely able to tear myself away from it to work and sleep.
