I just finished reading Solaris recently and I really enjoyed it at first but I found it pretty unsatisfying as it went on. I went in blind and I was expecting something unsettling and mysterious at first that would eventually dive into the characters’ traumas and flaws. It actually felt like the characters were held at arms length (even though there were only a few of them) and we barely got to know them at all. I did enjoy the actual Sci-fi aspects but after the first few chapters all anyone ever did was sit in their rooms and talk around their problems in hushed voices
So could you recommend any Sci-fi books with a similar premise (some kind of mysterious occurrence or something unexplained that needs to be solved) but that go more in-depth into the characters and maybe have a little more action? I’d prefer stand-alone novels if possible, and I’d love if they leaned more towards the biological side of sci-fi instead of technological
Thanks in advance!
