Hi, I’m looking for fantasy (or sci-fi) books where the main character is a bad guy overall or a good guy for bad reasons. I would prefer a female mc but a male one is fine too.
check out **The Dire Saga** by **Andrew Seiple**. Book 1 is titled Dire: Born (I’d say start there and not on book 0.5 Dire: Fate) MC is an evil Super villain but book 1 starts with her waking up on an operating table in an underground lab and not knowing who she is or who the people are that are trying to kill her.
Book 1 is a bit of the Anti-hero vibe while she rediscovers that she is a super villain and she tries to save a bunch of “innocents” but then the series shifts and she is an actual super villain (power is super intelligence and mechanical engineering, I guess a bit like Iron Man since she builds multiple super suits.) But she is always fighting against the “Good Supers” that protect the world.
One example of her being evil is in one of the short stories, she decides to explode the super volcano under Yellowstone hoping to killing 3-5 million people, because in her mind, letting it build until it naturally goes off will kill more people at some point in the future.
There is also
Hench by Natalie Zina Walschots, Book 2 is coming out middle of next month (5/19)
The Young Elites by Marie Lu 3 books in the series
SnappingTurtle1602 on
Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence (male MC), and The Poppy War by RF Kuang (female MC)
