I agree that this series grows on people. Which moment in it made you realize it was doing more than just ‘kids’ fantasy’ for you? I’ve noticed with a lot of series the payoff is when side details and secondary characters suddenly start changing the meaning of early scenes. For me, that’s when it stops feeling like genre and becomes a full story world.
