What are some good contemporary sci-fi thrillers about exploring new worlds?
I'm eager to read something that does a good job of immersing you in the exploration of new worlds and planets, with aliens and such. But I'd rather read things that are less derivative and subvert expectations a lot.
been reading lot of sci-fi lately and most the exploration stuff feels pretty samey. you might want to look for books that mess with the whole “humans discover aliens” formula instead of just doing it straight.
there’s some really good stuff out there that flips the perspective or makes the exploration itself the weird part, not just what they find. avoid anything that feels too much like classic golden age sci-fi if you want something that actually subverts expectations.
