Looking for novels set in 1999. Or late 90s at most. The year of the setting is my only requirement. Could be literary fiction, thriller, romance, sci-fi, etc.
I’m currently reading An Equal Music by Vikram Seth (published in 1999), and I’m finding myself very nostalgic of the late-90s vibe.
The world of the story feels a bit less connected than today, but still modern enough to feel familiar.
I’m 36. I was a kid in 1999. I want to revisit that time of the world as an adult.
Thank you
Ps, about An Equal Music: The story so far is utterly captivating, and the prose is brilliant. In case you were wondering.

Coming from someone who lived it, this 100% captures what being a university student was like in the late 90s: Flyboy Action Figure Comes with Gasmask by Jim Munroe.
It’s a wonderful little time capsule of Toronto in the late 90s. Fully encapsulates the feel of the subcultures of the time.
