I don't read a lot of romance but in 2025 I've read "Weather Girl" and "The Flatshare" and really enjoyed them. Sadly I haven't been able to find any compareable books ever since.
I was suggested "The Seven Year Slip" some time ago and found it incredibly underwhelming.
Another thing I strongly dislike in romance novels is when the FMC (female main character) is merely a self-insert for the author, or plots that follow the trope of a muscular jock falling in love with a "mousy" librarian who is clearly intended as a reader projection. (Or something along those lines.)
