I’ve figured out that my relationship with my phone is severely affecting my relationships and career and health and I’m looking for something to help me.
Has anyone read something that has really made a difference?
My girlfriend is reading *Dopamine Nation* and is cutting back on her phone use. It’s more about the background of why phones and tech are compelling. So, not like a self-help book.
Also, *The Anxious Generation* by Jonathan Haidt looks good (I’ve loved the two other books of his that I’ve read). It’s on my to-read list and is basically an account of just how bad our phones are for us (with a focus on the mental health of young people raised with phones).
The thing that made the biggest difference to me wasn’t a book though. I took a day off and put all my screens in a drawer first thing and didn’t open it for 12 hours. I felt so clear-headed and present that it encouraged me to cut back more generally just cus it was so rewarding.
