    **Hi all :)**

I’m looking for historical romance recommendations with a very specific kind of female lead. I’m interested in stories where the heroine resists traditional gender roles of her time. she’s not submissive, questions expectations, maybe pushes into spaces she’s not supposed to be in – and as a result, she faces social pushback or consequences for it.

I’d especially like books where this tension is central to the story, and where her independence actually drives conflict, both romantically and within society.

Any time period is fine. Bonus points if the romance itself comes to respect her autonomy rather than trying to “tame” her.

    Thanks in advance 🙂

Edit: very important that the heroines personality doesn’t turn giddy or gets “dumbed down” after getting closer to her romantic counterpart.

not really my genre but my sister reads tons of these and she’s always going on about how most romance authors just make the woman go soft once she gets the guy – drives her crazy when they lose all their fire
