I’m working my way through the Kingsbridge series by Ken Follett and have the Wolf Hall Trilogy on standby. Any recommendations for novels that take place in the Middle Ages and have lots of political intrigue? Kings, queen, assassins, etc etc. The longer the book the better

The Winter King by Bernard Cornwell
You might like The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco, it has that dense political and intellectual intrigue set in a medieval setting. Also The Accursed Kings series by Maurice Druon is full of royal politics, betrayal, and power struggles, very much in line with what you’re looking for. If you enjoy long, character-driven historical stories, those can really pull you into the complexity of power and decision-making in that time.
Have you read Game of Thrones?
