i’m looking for a new romance novel that has depth and insight. I’ve been having trouble finding one and I’ve dropped the last few romance novels that I have attempted because most of them felt like they were mass produced soft smut that were way too trope heavy, and extremely surface level. It feels so difficult to find a romance book with genuine themes and insight. I’m hoping that somebody can help me find one.
While you’re at it, if you can think of a novel that is more drama, focused with social or relationship oriented themes that may not have romance at the very forefront, that’s fine too. For example, say a story was very focused on friendship and had themes about mental health. I would happily take those suggestions too, even if there was a romance on the side instead of being the main idea.
Anyway, I’ve just been getting kind of frustrated running into so many poorly written books that feel like they are pumped out for profit instead of being written with genuine care. I just want to read a book with depth.
