Hi, I'm looking for cozy fiction books from Asia with such themes that's not focused on romance. I'm currently almost finished with Days at the Morisaki Bookshop and I'm really enjoying it. I also liked Convenience Store Woman and Before the Coffee Gets Cold.

I'm not looking to read sequels yet, so I'm considering these books but not sure which to get first. Also would like to hear some reviews about them if you have.

    • If Cats Disappeared from the World
    • The Travelling Cat Chronicles
    • Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop
    • The Convenience Store by the Sea (because cover)
    • Yeonnam-dong's Smiley Laundromart

oh man you picked some really good ones there! I read If Cats Disappeared from World last year and it totally wrecked me in best way possible. It’s this quiet contemplation about what makes life meaningful when you’re facing end of things, but not heavy handed about it. The cat parts are sweet but the deeper questions about memory and connection really stuck with me for weeks after

Travelling Cat Chronicles is beautiful too but heads up – it will make you cry, like properly sob. It’s told from cat’s perspective mostly and deals with friendship and saying goodbye in such gentle way. I was driving for work when I finished audiobook and had to pull over because tears were making it dangerous lol

Haven’t read the bookshop ones yet but they’re both sitting in my pile at home. Been doing lot of paranormal investigation stuff lately so haven’t had much time for cozy reads, but your post is making me want to bump them up the list. The covers on those Korean ones are just so pretty too, always gets me
